Mama G

“Singer/songwriter and wanderlust, Mama Gina feels most at home when she can feel theMama Gina 2017 FSG earth beneath her feet and taste the freedom of the open sky. With down-to-earth, bluesy vocals, a bit of humor, and straight-ahead, rhythmic, acoustic guitar, she tells the true stories that fall into her head and heart. She sings of life, death, and rebirth. She sings of holding on and letting go. She speaks to the Gods and Goddesses and they speak back. She sings their stories as they become her own. She sings of her spiritual connection to the natural world, and of our responsibility to nurture both the mundane and the magical. When she is not performing, you just might find her camping in the woods seeking inspiration from the earth beneath her feet and the vast, open sky.”

Burning Sage

“Since 202-Burning Sage was birthed through its founding members via the songwriting of burning sageLin Sanders and the rhythm of Sue Balaschak. They have combined their artistry performing as hard rock power trio, an acoustic duo, The Primal Rhythm Drum Ensemble and again, full circle, into an eclectic tribal/world rock band. Joining the lineup, this time around, is songwriter Corie Kaminski. In addition to her song writing

skills, Corie holds the drive on the bass. Also joining the founding members, is Dawn Fritz Heartsong, who ornaments the songs through her artistry with accoutrements and hand drums. Through the years, the common word heard to describe this band is “Intense”. They continue to deliver “True To Form”.

Tom Swiss

tom swiss“Including Original music based around poetic lyrics and cover ranging from centuries-old folk songs to 21st century rock and roll, Tom Swiss’s eclectic acoustic music was once described by a bystander as sounding like “a combination of Jim Morrison and Jello Biafra”. Besides numerous venues in and around Baltimore, he has played at events including the Ellicott City Fall Festival, Wisteria’s Cornstalk Festival, the Free Spirit Gathering, and the Instant Gratification series of multimedia art happenings.”

Denise Lavery

“Ellis Woodward and Denise Lavery have been connected through music more years than they want to admit. Ellis is a smooth singing troubadour who plays every kind of musical event that you can imagine. From senior centers and children’s festivals to bawdy barrooms, he invests himself fully, and genuinely with all walks of life, with joy and skill. Denise is a long-time lover of music and feels so lucky to have the privilege to sing with Ellis at FSG lunchtime concert this year. They will be playing a selection that spans decades and genres, and their intention is that those listening will catch the fun they’re having, and join in.”

Peggy Brennan

Peggy Brennan

“Peggy Brennan has been accompanying her voice on guitar since 1973, literally playing folk rock since it was top forty! Also a shamanic practitioner, Peggy does profound healings. There is one soul/song retrieval healing technique that spiritually acquires your own melodic verbal affirmation, which she calls Empowerment song.”

Wolfsong and Jonny

“Wolf song and Jonny (otherwise known as Sue Wolfsong and Jonny Lee) are veteran performers who have been entertaining together since joining forces over 8 years ago. Sue’s been a regular at FSG for longer then most people can remember and has dragged Jonny kicking and screaming into the pagan lifestyle, which he’s happily embraced. Creating music in a multitude of different styles, they’ve preformed at the Paul Robeson Center for the Arts in Princeton, NJ, at Drewby’s Blues Fests, and other venues at festivals and eating and drinking establishments in the North East. Their unusual interpretations of existing songs and unique original music has enhanced the noonday meals at Free Spirit Gathering in the past and will be doing so this year as well. As their slogan says. “Who knows what music to expect?”
